Days Gone is being marketed as a single-player, open-world title, though gamers have still found themselves asking whether a co-op multiplayer mode is included. Along with an idea as to how long the campaign is, interviews regarding Days Gone to various outlets have also addressed questions regarding potential gameplay options.
To help clear everything up, we’ve put together a helpful guide on whether or not Days Gone offers co-op multiplayer.
Does Days Gone Have Co-Op Multiplayer?
The quick answer as to whether or not Days Gone offers co-op multiplayer is no, it does not. Days Gone has been developed as a traditional single-player title where players take on the role of Deacon St. John and explore an open-world area based around the Pacific Northwest region. Confirming Days Gone as a single-player title, Matt Karch, CEO of Saber Interactive (World War Z), explained to GamesBeat:
“Days Gone, it’s a single-player experience. At some point, I went to Sony and said, ‘I’ve seen what you’re doing with Days Gone. Look what we’re doing with World War Z. Maybe we can help you with a multiplayer component.’ But they were obviously too focused, and understandably, on what they needed to do to get that game out.”
Based on this information, Days Gone will not release with any sort of co-op multiplayer mode. That said, it’s not outside the realm of possibility that in the future, SIE Bend Studio may opt to incorporate some form of multiplayer in Days Gone. Until something like that is explicitly confirmed though, players should purchase Days Gone with the knowledge that it only includes a single-player, open-world experience and offers no co-op multiplayer at the time of release.
