Before you change your class in World War Z, it’s worth noting that this action can only be done before the start of a match. Once you’ve chosen a class for a match, you’ll need to complete that match before you’re able to change your class. To change your class, enter into a new online or offline game, then open your “Customize” menu.

For console players, this can be done by hitting the right bumper on Xbox One or R1 on PlayStation 4. For PC players it’s a bit easier as you can use your mouse to click around and expand menu options. Inside the Customize menu, locate the “Class” option and then select the one you wish to try.

As stated above, there are six class types in World War Z which include Slasher, Gunslinger, Medic, Hellraiser, Fixer, and Exterminator. Any character in World War Z can occupy these different class types. Changing your character won’t change your class, so even if you choose a new character, you’ll also need to specifically alter your class type in this menu section before you begin a match.
