In Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, the only way to get Truly Precious Bait is by interacting and trading with the Pot Noble Merchants. In order to receive Truly Precious Bait, you’ll first need to acquire and trade Treasure Carp Scales. Due to their rarity, it can be a bit of a pain to get enough Treasure Carp Scales to trade for Truly Precious Bait.

In our experience, the best way to farm for Treasure Carp Scales is by grinding through Pink Carp. By killing Pink Carp enemies, you have a chance to earn Treasure Carp Scales as a reward drop. To find Pink Carp, explore the Hirata Estate area. As the third area you reach in Sekiro, you should be able to begin the process of finding and killing Pink Carp relatively early on.

Once you’ve collected enough Treasure Carp Scales from these Pink Carp, you’ll be able to visit the Pot Noble Merchants and exchange them for Truly Precious Bait. Note that there are two different Truly Precious Bait variants in Sekiro depending on which Pot Noble Merchant you speak with.

For example, by journeying to Fountainhead Palace and speaking with Pot Noble Koremori you’ll be able to get one Truly Precious Bait variant. You can also find a Pot Noble Merchant in Hirata Estate itself. In Hirata Estate, you’ll find Pot Noble Harunaga on an island out near the bridge area. Again, exchange Treasure Carp Scales to acquire Truly Precious Bait from Pot Noble Harunaga.

With your Truly Precious Bait, you’ll need to travel to Fountainhead Palace (where you spoke with Pot Noble Koremori) and make your way to the Feeding Grounds. At the Feeding Grounds, there’s a large bell you can ring which calls the Giant Carp to you. Once you’ve called the Giant Carp, you can choose to feed it Truly Precious Bait from either Pot Noble Koremori or Pot Noble Harunaga.

This is where things get a bit grim, as the first Truly Precious Bait you choose to feed the Giant Carp is key. If you feed the Giant Carp the Truly Precious Bait from Pot Noble Koremori, you’ll kill Pot Noble Harunaga and vice versa. The reward for feeding the Giant Carp some Truly Precious Bait is the same, though the Pot Noble you doom to death will vary depending on your choice.

Again, choosing between Pot Noble Merchants is quite grim, though the reward makes the activity worthwhile. After all, Lapis Lazuli can be used to upgrade your Shinobi Prosthetics, thereby helping improve your time in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Which Pot Noble Merchant did you choose? Are you team Pot Noble Koremori, or team Pot Noble Harunaga? Let us know the choice you made down in the comments below!
