As noted above, players won’t have immediate access to the Dark Zone in Tom Clancy’s The Division 2. In order to unlock the Dark Zone, players first need to work their way through the story campaign. Eventually, you’ll encounter a mission in the campaign that tasks you with escorting a Dark Zone agent by the name of Senait Ezera to the White House.

Finish this task, and you’ll be able to recruit Ezera, and interact with her in The Theatre area of the White House. As you interact with Ezera, you’ll receive special missions from her including a mission called “Dark Zone East Recon.” Note that you’ll need to complete this particular mission in order to unlock full access to the Dark Zone in The Division 2.

On your map, the East Dark Zone is located on the right edge of your map and will be marked by an icon after you accept the mission from Ezera. Head towards this icon, then begin the tasks assigned to you including scanning the area, taking out all enemies in that area, and then tagging the supplies as instructed.

Continue through the mission by repeating this process as indicated on your HUD. Once you’ve completed the “Dark Zone East Recon” mission, you’ll unlock full access to the Dark Zone in The Division 2. Even though you need to complete a few tasks to unlock the Dark Zone, having the ability to explore the area is undoubtedly worthwhile as it includes a wealth of valuable gear and supplies.
