The first and easiest set of alternate costumes to unlock in Devil May Cry 5 are the “EX” costumes included with game pre-orders. If you pre-ordered a copy of Devil May Cry 5, you should have received a DLC code that unlocks four EX costumes including EX Dante, EX Nero, EX Lady, and EX Trish.

By activating your pre-order DLC code, you’ll have instant access to all EX costumes and can equip them whenever you feel so inclined. Note that EX costumes offer no character buffs and are strictly cosmetic in nature. Other alternate costumes in Devil May Cry 5 require a bit of effort to unlock. These alternate costumes occupy the “Super Alternate” set.

To get these Super Alternate costumes, you’ll need to complete the game’s main campaign on the Dante Must Die difficulty setting. This can be a rather lengthy process, as the Dante Must Die difficulty setting only unlocks after you first beat the game on either Son of Sparta or Devil Hunter.

Unlike the EX set, there’s a separate benefit to unlocking Super Alternate costumes in that you’ll be able to unleash the Infinite Devil Trigger ability. With the Infinite Devil Trigger ability, you can use each character’s special ability without having to charge it first. Although, this comes at a price as your rank drops by 80% thereby reducing the number of Red Orbs you can earn.

For more on how to unlock the Infinite Devil Trigger ability in Devil May Cry 5, be sure to check out our previous guide. To equip alternate costumes simply visit the Main Menu, select Options, Customize Cutscenes, Select NPC Costumes, then pick the alternate costumes you wish to equip. You can also swap costumes before each Mission in the Mission Select screen.

To recap, we’ve listed all alternate costume options available in Devil May Cry 5 down below!

  • EX Dante (DmC: Devil May Cry)
