To unlock the secret ending in Devil May Cry 5, you’ll need to return to a fight at the beginning of the game that you might’ve previously disregarded as impossible. To elaborate, you’ll need to go all the way back to the Prologue section in Devil May Cry 5 where you face off against Urizen for the first time.

While it certainly seems as though Urizen cannot be defeated at this point in the game, this actually isn’t the case. Keep in mind that we don’t recommend attempting to defeat Urizen right at the very beginning. Instead, you’ll want to play through the game and gradually expand the Skills and Devil Breakers available to Nero.

For example, we waited until we completed the main campaign before restarting and playing through the Prologue again (there are benefits to beating the campaign over and over, such as the ability to unlock the Infinite Devil Trigger ability). To make this particular fight even easier, we lowered the difficulty setting down to Human, though this isn’t a set requirement when it comes to defeating Urizen.

Because we unlocked a variety of new Skills for Nero after our first playthrough, and expanded things including his total health, we were able to withstand more of Urizen’s attacks. Of course, Urizen deals an incredible amount of damage, so you’ll want to avoid taking hits as much as possible.

Once Nero defeats Urizen, you'll unlock the secret ending and "Well I'll Be Damned" achievement in Devil May Cry 5.

Despite the recommendation that you beat the campaign before returning to the Prologue, you always can double back and try your hand at this epic fight against Urizen whenever you feel confident in your abilities. Note that it may take you several tries in order to prevail. Tips to keep in mind when it come to succeeding against Urizen center around his crystal.

By damaging Urizen’s crystal from afar with Nero’s Blue Rose, you’ll be able to force him to drop his shields. Once Urizen drops his shields, you’ll want to quickly swoop in and deal some direct damage using your Devil Breakers and/or Red Queen. The second shields are restored to Urizen, retreat and repeat.

Overall, this can be a lengthy process, but by attacking Urizen’s crystal and forcing him to drop his shields, you’ll be able to slowly grind away at his health until he’s eventually defeated. By defeating Urizen at this stage in the game, you’ll unlock the secret ending in Devil May Cry 5 and the “Well I’ll Be Damned” achievement.
