What are the Pokemon Sword and Shield Starter Pokemon?

Our first look at Grookey, Scorbunny and Sobble, the Starter Pokemon for Pokemon Sword and Shield!

Pokémon Sword and Shield have just been revealed by Nintendo and they’re set to be the biggest entries in the series yet. Set in the new Galar region, the games will be packed with brand new Pokémon to find, catch and train. A new Pokémon game and new region also means brand new starters too! So let’s take a look at who the Pokémon Sword and Shield starter Pokémon are:

Pokémon Sword and Shield Starter Pokémon

As with all previous main entries in the series, Pokémon Sword and Shield will offer a choice between three starter Pokémon, one of which you’ll take on your adventures in Galar. As per usual, these are split into Grass, Fire and Water types. Here’s what each of them looks like with a brief description:

Grass Type Starter: Grookey

As always, you’ll only be able to pick one of these Pokémon to join you on your journey through the Galar region, but there will be plenty more exciting new Pokémon to discover as you travel. If you really don’t want to miss out, you can always trade with your friends to collect them all or replay the game to test out each starter!
