How long to beat Metro Exodus

The amount of time it'll take you to get through Metro Exodus.

If you recently picked up a copy of Metro Exodus, you may be wondering how long it’ll take you to beat the game. Noticeably longer than its predecessors (Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light), Metro Exodus contains a meatier campaign with a solid amount of story progression. What’s more, the scale of the game is larger with more areas to explore, and more activities available in those areas.

Wondering how long it’ll take you to get through everything? We’ve got you covered! Below, we’ve put together a quick guide on how long it’ll take you to beat Metro Exodus.

The amount of time it’ll take you to beat Metro Exodus largely depends on your playstyle and what you intend to do in the game. Based off early reviews of the game, Metro Exodus can be completed in anywhere from 15 to 40 hours. If you plan to breeze through the story and skip cutscenes in favor of exploration, Metro Exodus will occupy around 15 hours of your time.

Meanwhile, if you’re someone who plays a game to 100% completion, it can take upwards of 40 hours to get through all of the content available in Metro Exodus. Addressing the game’s length, Deep Silver’s Head of Global Brand Management, Huw Beynon, told GamesTM:

“We’re looking at a total playtime of both previous games combined. In terms of geographical footprint, as we have moved to these more open areas, we can fit pretty much the entirety of the first two games (in terms of footprint) into just one of our huge levels. The last two games came in at about 12GB each, and we’re struggling to fit Metro Exodus onto a single Blu-ray.”

The Microsoft store lists Metro Exodus as a 53.45GB download while the PlayStation Store lists Metro Exodus as a 48.58GB download, making the game much larger than the previous two entries in the Metro series. Based on our personal experience, it took almost 30 hours for us to complete Metro Exodus. Note that we didn’t skip through any cutscenes, and we spent a fair amount of time exploring. Again, the time it’ll take you to beat Metro Exodus depends on how you intend to play, though you should expect a completion time between 15 and 40 hours.

Metro Exodus is $59.99 and available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
