How to get the Wavesplitter in Destiny 2

Learn how to get Wavesplitter Exotic Trace Rifle, or if indeed you can in Destiny 2.

The Wavesplitter Exotic Trace Rifle is one of the most sought after weapons in Destiny 2, and considering its power, that’s no real surprise. Unfortunately, earning it relies on a few factors you may not have much control over. Trace rifles remain pretty rare in Destiny 2, but if you’re lucky enough to earn this Void one then you’ll melt through shields in no time thanks to the increasing damage of the weapon. It’s also got one of the most manageable recoil patterns of all the Trace Rifles, though expect to chew through a fair bit of ammo while you’re at it. In this guide we’ll teach you how to get the Wavesplitter in Destiny 2

Unfortunately for any Xbox One players out there, the Wavesplitter is a PS4 exclusive. This means you cannot earn it at all if playing on Xbox One. PS4 owners? You’re in luck, or rather, you’re relying on luck to get the Wavesplitter. As with many of Destiny 2: Forsaken’s exotics, the only way to earn the Wavesplitter is through random drops from exotic engrams, so it’s really down to chance whether you earn it quickly or not. Of course, there’s always the possibility that Xur will sell the Wavesplitter in future, so make sure you check his location when we post it each Friday to be sure you don’t miss your chance!

If you are fortunate enough to get the Wavesplitter as a drop, you’ve earned yourself a fantastic weapon to use no matter your mode of choice. If you’re looking to use the Wavesplitter in the Crucible, just make sure you bring a backup weapon with plenty of ammo, as you won’t recover much from kills, making it easy to run through your entire reserve in a quick spurt of combat.
