PUBG will run at 30fps across all Xbox One devices

Bluehole was previously shooting for 60fps on Xbox One X.

Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene has announced that PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will run at 30fps across the Xbox One family of devices, including the supercharged Xbox One X.

The previous comments Greene is referring to came to prominence this week when media reported on an interview he gave to a British games magazine, in which he said Bluehole was shooting for 60 frames per second on Xbox One X.

"Definitely on Xbox One X, 60fps," he told gamesTM issue 194 in comments reported by WCCFTTech (hat tip to VG247).

"On Xbox One, we’re not sure. We may have to limit it at 30FPS, maybe, but the last time I saw it, it was running at about 30 to 40. We’re still constantly improving it so, you know, the aim is to get to 60.

"That’s why we’re doing Game Preview, because I think the great thing about console is it’s a locked hardware system, so we can do really specific tweaks that tune it for those systems."

Greene said he has "great faith that we'll get there", which sounds promising. However, today's tweet suggests it won't happen any time soon.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is due out on Xbox One on December 12, priced $29.99. It's set to make its console just under nine months after its original Early Access release on Steam, during which time it has sold more than 20 million copies, making Greene and Bluehole one of the hottest tickets in all of gaming.
