Most anticipated games of 2019

The games we're most looking forward to playing in 2019 and beyond.

Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is another game that has no confirmed release date, though we’re predicting that the game could release by the end of 2019. Unlike Death Stranding where we have a quote pinpointing a 2019 release, we don’t have much to go on other than a gut feeling. Of course, it’s just as likely that Cyberpunk 2077 could be pushed into early 2020 in order to properly polish the game.

On the Cyberpunk Twitter, an update regarding the release of Cyberpunk 2077 was announced that reads, “Coming when it’s ready.”

Essentially, if Cyberpunk 2077 is ready in 2019, it’ll release in 2019. If not, fans may have to wait a bit longer to dive into the latest from CD Projekt Red. Thinking positively, we’re including Cyberpunk 2077 on our list of the most anticipated game releases of 2019, and we certainly hope we’re right.

The Last of Us: Part 2

Joining Cyberpunk 2077 in our “we hope it comes out in 2019” is The Last of Us: Part 2. Originally announced at the PlayStation Experience in 2016, the release of The Last of Us: Part 2 is simply a matter of time.

From what we saw of the game at E3 2018, the game looks as though it’s close to completion, meaning that a 2019 release date isn’t outside the realm of possibility. Set five years after the events of The Last of Us, The Last of Us: Part 2 returns players to a hostile, post-apocalyptic world.

Not only do we want to know what happened to Joel, we’re also curious to see how an older, wiser Ellie deals with new threats such as the emergence of a new cult. At E3 2019, we predict we’ll get a new trailer and confirmed 2019 release date for The Last of Us: Part 2 with the game coming out sometime later this Fall. Fingers crossed!

Metroid Prime 4

Metroid Prime 4 was mysteriously absent from E3 2018 and every Nintendo Direct that aired in 2018, leaving fans to wonder what the reason behind the radio silence is. Has the project been cancelled? Is Metroid Prime 4 a real thing? To help calm your anxiety, Metroid Prime 4 is a real game, one we should hear more about in 2019.

If we had to guess, a 2019 release date for Metroid Prime 4 is unlikely, though we’re not ruling out the possibility of a holiday release. We expect a new trailer for Metroid Prime 4 to drop during a Nintendo Direct, or during Nintendo’s E3 2019 presentation. In this trailer, we should see some gameplay, learn a little more about the story, and perhaps even get a release window. No matter what happens, we can’t wait to learn more about Metroid Prime 4 in 2019!
