Bears, alligators, fish and more all have legendary versions to be found around the hills and rivers, and each can be hunted to net yourself a unique legendary hide. Hunting them is no easy feat, but when it comes to learning the best techniques, the buck stops here. Okay, we’re sorry for the terrible pun, but read on to discover where to find and hunt the Legendary Buck in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Where to find and hunt the Legendary Buck in RDR2
The Legendary Buck may be a herbivore but it’s still a dangerous animal to tackle if you’re not prepared, so make sure you’ve got the right bait and ammo before you start. You can find the Legendary Buck in West Elizabeth, in the mountains to the northwest of Strawberry. The area is called Big Valley. Look around using Eagle Eye for the creature’s scent from a patch of fur then follow it until you find the Buck. If you don’t see anything, you may need to leave the area and return after some time.
The buck becomes extremely aggressive when provoked, so you’ll want to take it down quickly. Your best bet is to use Dead Eye to land repeated shots directly on its weak point as this will ensure you take it down quickly before it escapes. Unloading shots willy nilly into the buck won't risk damaging the pelt (Legendary Pelts can't be ruined in this way) but could give it a chance to fight back or run. Check out our hunting guide for more information on the best approach.
