All Special Lieutenant Skills and recruitable characters in Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Learn which characters can join you on the Adrestia and all the skills available for Special Lieutenants in Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

Part of the joy of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is in commanding your ship the Adrestia and manning it with the finest crew around. To improve the odds in a sea battle, Kassandra and Alexios can recruit Special Lieutenants from across the land who grant a range of different bonuses and join the fight when boarding of other vessels.

Special Lieutenants fall into different ranks, starting at Common, then Rare, Epic and finally Legendary. Common and Rare only have one skill to offer, Epic Lieutenants grant two, while Legendary Lieutenants provide three, including certain skills unique to the Legendary tier. In this article you’ll learn all of the unique Special Lieutenants available for hire in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, as well as all the potential skills lieutenants you recruit can have.

Most Special Lieutenants are recruited from enemy NPCs, knocking out and hiring those with the skills you want instead of killing them. However, a select few unique characters in Odyssey’s world (or the Assassin’s Creed universe) require specific missions to be completed before you can hire them. Others, like Assassin’s Creed Syndicate’s Evie Frye appear as bonus characters you can buy from the Helix store. We’re sure more will be added over time, but these are all of the unique names lieutenants as of the game’s launch:

All Special Lieutenant Skills

There are a great number of skills that Special Lieutenants can come with, and as ever some are more useful than others. When you’re on the hunt for a new lieutenant to hire, scout out enemy groups with Ikaros first, as he’ll be able to see the type of skills an NPC has and mark the ones you’re after.

While you can adjust the skills you use based on your playstyle, we recommend hiring a Special Lieutenant with the Ship Armor or Ship Health skill, as these will keep you alive longer during a heated battle. Skills offer a percentage buff to a particular ability, so make sure you keep an eye on both the buff type and the number when choosing who to keep on the Adrestia.
