Jump Force roster includes characters from Yu-Gi-Oh!

The heart of the cards.

Bandai Namco is adding another character to the Jump Force roster in the form of Yugi Muto from Yu-Gi-Oh! Unlike Light Yagami and Ryuk from Death Note – who are only featured in the game’s story mode – Yugi will reportedly be a playable character. Bandai’s release announcement is as follows:

“Joining the roster of Jump Force is Yugi Muto, the hero of Yu-Gi-Oh! Jump Force brings together the greatest heroes and villains from the over 50-year history of Shueisha’s influential Japanese manga Weekly Shonen Jump to fight for the fate of their world and ours.”

No word has been released regarding Yugi’s skill set, or whether additional characters from Yu-Gi-Oh! will be added at a later date. Of course, given that two or more characters from each manga are included in the Jump Force roster (Bleach, One Piece, Naruto, etc.), it’s not a huge stretch to say that Bandai Namco will likely add a second Yu-Gi-Oh! cast member.

Who that could be remains up for debate, though our bet is currently on Seto Kaiba. Other Yu-Gi-Oh! characters that could potentially be added to the Jump Force roster include Joey Wheeler, Tristan Taylor, and Tea Gardner. Meanwhile, if you’re unfamiliar with the story of Yu-Gi-Oh, it centers around Yugi Muto who’s possessed by an ancient pharaoh after solving a mysterious, pyramid-shaped puzzle. This allows Yugi to become Yami Yugi whenever needed, particularly when playing the story’s main card game, Duel Monsters.

What do you think of the news that Yugo Muto is joining the Jump Force roster? Are you hoping Bandai will add other characters from the series, or are you more interested in learning more about the gameplay of other roster characters? Let us know down in the comments below! Jump Force is set to release sometime in 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows.
