Shadow of the Tomb Raider’s hidden collectibles and secrets require a bit of backtracking at times, as often you won’t have the tools needed to access them until later in the game. For this purpose, it’s handy to know how to fast travel between different locations, as it won’t always be easy or possible to return to them on foot. Plus, fast travelling will save you an awful lot of time running through areas you’ve already explored. Read on to learn how to fast travel in Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
How to fast travel
The first thing to note is that Shadow of the Tomb Raider doesn’t allow you to Fast Travel from the beginning of the game, so don’t panic if you’re struggling to find the option early on. In fact, you’ll need to have played a fair few hours before you’re given the ability, so for the early stages make sure you remember any interesting areas that you’d like to revisit later.
It’s worth making a list of key spots, as no one enjoys running repeatedly around a dark environment you’ve already visited, desperately trying to remember where you saw a point of interest. You’ll often want to fast travel backwards to complete missed crypts or tombs too, as completing many of these will unlock bonuses like new outfits for Lara to wear.
The good news is that once you’ve unlocked the fast travel feature, you can use it whenever you’re at a base camp. You’ll be able to travel back to any of the base camps you’ve already visited so far, making it pretty easy to return to old locations. Once you’ve got the equipment you need, revisit previous areas to access or solve puzzles that you couldn’t before.
