How to get the Ace of Spades hand cannon in Destiny 2: Forsaken

Learn how to find and repair Cayde-6's exotic Ace of Spades hand cannon in Destiny 2.

If we had to name one reason many players were eager to jump into Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion, it was the chance to get their hands on Cayde-6’s iconic Ace of Spades hand cannon. In Forsaken’s story the weapon is nicked by big bad Uldren Sov, and it’s up to you to get it back. And, y’know, save the universe ‘n’ all that too. Most importantly though: We. Want. That. Gun.

The natural solution is therefore to play through the campaign, and you’d be right to do so. Lo and behold Uldren drops the weapon once you defeat him but, just our luck, it’s broken! Fortunately, all is not lost and it’s possible to repair the weapon for use as an exotic hand cannon. In this guide we’ll teach you how to get the (working) Ace of Spades hand cannon in Destiny 2: Forsaken.

How to get and fix the Ace of Spades hand cannon

  • Recover the weapon in the campaign.
  • Speak to Banshee-44 in the Tower.
  • Complete the hand cannon challenges.
  • Recover the Cayde caches.
  • Complete the Ace in the Hole mission on Titan.
  • Return to Banshee-44.

Once you have the broken Ace of Spades hand cannon, take it to Banshee-44 in the Tower and he’ll kick off a quest to repair it. Shockingly, you can’t just leave it with him, as he’ll need you to go and collect some parts to fix it. There are three parts needed, but to learn their location you need to complete certain hand cannon-based criteria. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Kill five invading enemies in Gambit with a hand cannon.
  • Kill 250 enemies on a Strike mission with a hand cannon.
  • Get 25 Precision Kills in the Crucible with a hand cannon.

Yep, you’ll need to be comfortable jumping into PvP if you want to earn this weapon. It’s a good excuse to play the new Gambit mode, though we’re not entirely sure how getting multiplayer kills helps you learn more about the weapon, but hey, this is sci-fi RPG logic.

Once those challenges are complete, you’ll be given the location of a number of Cayde caches containing the repair parts you need. They’re spread throughout the solar system and you’ll need to find them all before moving on. You’re not done yet though, as the final stage of the repair process is to complete the Ace in the Hole mission on Titan. Finish that and you’ll finally be ready to earn your reward. Simply return to Banshee-44 on the tower and he’ll repair the weapon for you.

And that’s it! You’ve finally earned the exotic Ace of Spades hand cannon and can enjoy it to your heart’s content. While Cayde’s piece has understandably drawn most of the attention, there were plenty more exotic weapons and armor added in Forsaken, so why not check out our full list to see what takes your fancy?
