In SCUM survival is key, and one way to ensure your character’s survival is by knowing how to refill Water Bottles. This is because your character will need to drink water in order to stay hydrated in SCUM. Without water, your character will quickly succumb to a variety of ailments that can be difficult to cure, like dehydration and hyperthermia (heat stroke).

How to Refill Water Bottles in SCUM

Before we get into how to refill Water Bottles in SCUM, you’ll first need to know how to acquire a Water Bottle. Locations where you can scavenge Water Bottles include buildings where food and water is typically found such as supermarkets, convenience stores, and gas stations. Other places to scavenge for Water Bottles include military compounds and residential areas.
Once you’ve scavenged yourself a Water Bottle, you’ll want to check to see how much water is inside. To see how full (or empty) your Water Bottle is, open up your inventory in SCUM and inspect the Water Bottle. By inspecting it, you’ll be able to see the Water Bottle’s current fill level. If this level is low, we recommend you set aside some time to refill it before it becomes entirely empty.
This is because running out of water can be a nasty surprise in SCUM, especially if your character needs a drink of water to stave off dehydration and hyperthermia. Fortunately, Water Bottles can be refilled at a variety of different water sources in SCUM including water pumps, lakes, rivers, ponds, wells, and fountains.

Note that we recommend utilizing fresh water sources whenever possible, as drinking tainted water sources can make your character incredibly ill. With your water source in sight, you’ll need to run through the following steps to refill your Water Bottle in SCUM:
- Open your inventory and left-click the Water Bottle you wish to refill.
- Hover over nearby water source while keeping your inventory screen open.
- Right-click the water source and select the “Fill” option to begin refilling your Water Bottle.
As you drink from your Water Bottle in SCUM, be sure to check its fill level.
