Now that you know what Nergigante is weak against, let’s walk you through how to kill Nergigante in Monster Hunter: World. To kill Nergigante in Monster Hunter: World, it’s advisable to craft a weapon using Thunder. You can also use items like Paralysis Knives. Nergigante is a deadly opponent whose Dive Bomb attack can one-shot kill.

Be sure to recognize Nergigante’s Dive Bomb attack early on in the fight in order to learn how to avoid it. Nergigante’s body is also covered in spikes which are capable of dealing damage. They can be broken off, but will begin to regrow automatically during the fight. The longer the spikes are left alone, the more damage they deal.

White Spikes can be smashed relatively easily. Black Spikes are “hardened” and will cause your weapon to bounce off. Try to prioritize clearing off the White Spikes before they become hardened. While Nergigante’s spikes are a pain to deal with, his deadliest attack is arguably Dive Bomb.

It’s easy to recognize when Nergigante is about to attack using Dive Bomb as he raises himself into the air above you before slamming down with full force. This force causes Nergigante’s spikes to fly off in all directions, and results in a few annoying aftershocks. Of course, in the moments following Dive Bomb, Nergigante becomes more vulnerable to attacks.

Dodge the first Dive Bomb phase, dodge his Spikes, and dodge the aftershocks. Then when it’s safe, close in and begin attacking. Try cutting Nergigante’s tail off as this is a rare item drop required to craft the Nergigante Alpha Armor Set.

Nergigante may try and swipe you during your attacks, or may try even run through other melee attacks like the one where both claws launch into the air before slamming down into the ground. This is where Paralysis comes in handy, as you can pin him down and focus your attacks without having to worry about a rogue paw.

At the end of the battle, Nergigante will retreat. Use caution when following Nergigante into his lair and be ready to dodge. Once Nergigante is defeated, he offers the following items as loot:

Nergigante Carves:

  • Immortal Dragonscale

  • Nergigante Regrowth Plate
