The Screenshot Saturday showcase - July 23

A visual delight of racing, shooting, weather, and scenery are on prominent display during this week's #ScreenshotSaturday.

Each Saturday, game developers take to Twitter to share screenshots, GIFs, and video clips of their latest projects as part of #ScreenshotSaturday. Screenshot Saturday is a day that truly highlights the development process with all of its challenges, complexity, and triumphs.

This week, we’re highlighting some of the latest and greatest #ScreenshotSaturday tweets. Get ready for action-packed racing, shooting, eye-catching scenescapes, terrifying enemies, and more!

Apex Racing League

The first #ScreenshotSaturday piece comes from Twitter user Alberto Mastretta who’s currently developing the game Apex Racing League with his brother, Charlie. In the clip above, you can scope out some of Apex Racing League’s charming pit-crew animations. According to the game’s website, Apex Racing League is a top-down racing game with 3D semi-isometric visuals.

When the game is complete, it’ll offer players the ability to race each other using a plethora of different car classes, all of which embody the world of motorsport. Players will be able to master different racing disciplines, compete in custom races, customize both their driver and their car, and even put together their own pit-stop strategies. What’s more, the game will reportedly have local multiplayer between 2-4 players.

My Friend Pedro

This game piqued the interest of many when its trailer was shown during Devolver Digital’s E3 2018 press conference. Now, it’s back with an exciting clip to entice players even more during #ScreenshotSaturday. In the GIF – dubbed “The Fast and the Delirious” – prospective players are able to get better feel for the fast-paced, gritty action available in My Friend Pedro.

Not only can you shoot down bad guys on a bike, you can also perform some sick flips in the process! Developed by Dead Toast Entertainment, My Friend Pedro is currently scheduled to release for PC and Nintendo Switch sometime next year. Knight of Exile

This next #ScreenshotSaturday highlight comes from DonXuglo Games and their latest project, Knight of Exile. In the video clip, DonXuglo shows the current status of the game’s weather system. As the knight bounces around, you can see the background scenery change from blustery summer day to stormy evening and back again. It’s a gorgeous clip that highlights the sheer level of detail at play in Knight of Exile.

Previous posts for Knight of Exile have revealed other aspects of the game including little birds you can encounter on your travels, combat animations, and lootable chests. Holy Shift!

Looking for a unique way to kill monsters? Check out the clip above courtesy of the game Holy Shift!

Described as a “fast-paced action” game about “finding your way out of a time loop,” Holy Shift! is a marvel when it comes to combat options. The game lets you utilize the world around you as part of your gameplay strategy, which is further exemplified not only in the latest #ScreenshotSaturday clip, but in previous postings like the one about how the game’s explosive fruit can be used in combat.

Other things you can look forward to in Holy Shift! include a random level generator, destructable environment elements including rocks, and even traps with spikes! Remnant: From the Ashes

Partaking in their very first #ScreenshotSaturday are the developers working on Remnant: From the Ashes. In the screenshot above, you can scope out one of the game’s flaming Devil enemies. Additionally, they posted another #ScreenshotSaturday image this past Saturday which shows four player characters exploring a grim, darkly lit area.

According to the game’s description, Remnant: From the Ashes is a third-person survival game where up to four players must fight, adapt, and overcome various perils found in a series of diverse, deadly environments. If the style seems familiar, that’s because the game is being developed by the team at Gunfire Games who're also hard at work on Darksiders 3.

It’s definitely interesting to see Gunfire try their hand at a game like Remnant with dynamically-generated stages and strategic multiplayer survival. For more on Remnant: From the Ashes, check out the game’s announcement trailer below, sign up for updates on the game’s official website, and follow the game on Twitter to catch all of their #ScreenshotSaturday posts!
