SOMA's Xbox One release includes monsterless Safe Mode on December 1

The real monster is the world.

Indie horror game SOMA is making the jump to Xbox One on December 1, and will also include a mode that removes monsters.

Several reviews of the 2015 PC game from Amnesia developers Frictional Games mentioned that monster encounters sometimes actively harmed the already uneasy atmosphere.

The science fiction environment is supposedly scary enough that Frictional have decided to offer a monsterless "Safe Mode" in the Xbox One release, so if you’ve been put off by all the hide n seek antics then this could be the one for you. It's unknown if the mode will make it to other versions in a patch, however there are already unofficial PC mods that have a similar effect adding a so-called Wuss Mode.

Check out the teaser trailer for the game below and make up your own mind.
