Sunglasses Squirtle coming to Pokémon GO

You can catch a Squirtle wearing sunglasses in Pokémon GO this summer.

Pokémon GO is hosting another Community Day event that brings with it the release of a new “Squirtle Squad” variant of Squirtle along. Additionally, a version of Blastoise with the rare attack “Hydro Cannon” will be available for capture. The event is set to take place on July 8 from 2 p.m. (EST) until 5 p.m. (EST).

The upcoming Community Day event marks the first instance of Niantic releasing a costumed Pokémon to Pokémon GO outside of Pikachu. It also gives the game a nice summery feel, as we’ll definitely be wearing our sunglasses while venturing out into the scorching heat in search of Squirtle this Sunday.

Other new additions to Pokémon GO include the ability to add friends, trade, and send gifts. Need a little help with the latest updates to Pokémon GO? We’ve got you covered! Be sure to check out our guides on how to add friends in Pokémon GO, learn why Niantic is deleting illegal captures in Pokémon GO, and read our opinion on whether or not Pokémon: Let’s Go! Pikachu and Eevee can revive the Pokémon GO craze.

Let us know in the comments below whether you’ll be heading off in search of the “Squirtle Squad” on July 8, or if you plan to sit this one out and keep cool indoors.
