Annual charity speedrunning event Summer Games Done Quick is live this week.
The broadcast, which runs 24 hours a day from Sunday June 24 to Sunday July 1, showcases top speedrunners playing through an enormous selection of retro and modern games in live speedruns. Sunday already saw Spyro the Dragon, Resident Evil 4 and Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos beaten, and there's plenty more on the way. The show includes 100% completion runs as well as speedy, glitch-filled shows and even side-by-side speedrun races.
The full schedule for this year's show was revealed back in April and includes new delights such as Celeste, Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy and the Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane trilogy. Other big or new games to watch for include Metroid Zero Mission and Samus Returns (back to back!), Prey and Cuphead. There are plenty of games from all eras of gaming, so take a look at what you're interested in and plan your viewing around it. Or, if you're lucky like us, keep the stream on your second monitor while working! It's only a mildly enormous distraction.
Check out the stream below if you're interested. We'll put together a roundup of the best runs once it's over.
Games Done Quick is a bi-annual charity event. This year's Summer Games Done Quick is produced in support of Doctors Without Borders (Medecins Sans Frontieres). Viewers are encouraged to donate, with many donations read out on stream. If you'd like to put some money towards a good cause, head to the Games Done Quick website and hit the Donate Now button.
Donations can be put towards a selection of rewards including extra game runs and special outfit and option selections too. Keep an eye out for the TASBot sequences towards the end of the week where this year we'll get to watch F-Zero GX and Super Metroid destroyed. We can't wait.Load Comments
