5 Tips to Secure Your PSN Account

Keep your PlayStation account safe!

PSN-Only Password

Creating a password for a site or service can be tedious. With so many different accounts nowadays it can be easy to just use the same password for multiple services. However, if you want to keep all of your account secure, you really do need to use a separate password for each one.

You can change your PSN password, and alter other options, in the Security section of the Settings.

Take the time to create a PSN-only password, this way, if another service is hacked and the password is compromised, it won’t be the same password as other sites. There are a lot of tips out there for creating a strong password, but an excellent article is one posted on HowToGeek.com.

One of the strongest passwords you can create is a string of random words. For instance, “correct horse battery staple” is an example the comic XKCD uses. This is difficult for a computer to “hack” but easy for you to remember. Pick a good password, using random words, throw in a few numbers and special characters (in unobvious places), and you’re good to go.

Sometimes it can be helpful to have a little book where you write your passwords down – but this might not be the case if you’re living with people you can’t trust not to go snooping.

That about wraps it up for tips on how to secure your PSN account. There are a few more security measures you can find on the PlayStation 4 that will help to further increase your security. They can be found by going to Settings, PlayStation Network/Account Management, Account Information, and Security.

Take some time to familiarize yourself with all the different ways you can keep your PSN account secure, and remember, never share your password with anyone!
