The Answers

It's come to that point in time where we reveal the answers to the above questions. If you didn't get them all right, don't worry - we were just as surprised by a bunch of them as you no doubt were! If you got them all correct, I've got to ask, did you cheat? Because that's insane! Well done, everyone.

  • The first battlefield game was Battlefield 1942, released on September 10, 2002 in North America.
  • There are actually four versions of the Frostbite engine. Frostbite 1, Frostbite 1.5, Frostbite 2, and Frosbite 3.
  • Refractor and RenderWare are the names of the other two engines that were used to create the Battlefield games. Refractor actually had more versions, Refractor 1 and 2.
  • Rush first appeared in Battlefield Bad Company and was known as Gold Rush. Interestingly, it was actually the only game mode that Bad Company launched with.
  • It's been almost a year since Battlefield 1 first released. It hit our PCs back in October 21, 2016.
  • There were only four download-only titles in the history of Battlefield: Battlefield Heroes, Battlefield Online, Battlefield Play4Free, and Battlefield 1943.
  • We're disappointed that this TV show never got made, but if it did, it was going to be based on Battlefield Bad Company.
  • Battlefield Hardline's inspiration came from a work-in-progress called Urban Combat. This game was going to be set in the Battlefield universe and revolve around cops and robbers.
  • Strike at Karkand was in a whopping five Battlefield games: Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142, Battlefield Online, Battlefield Play4Free, and Battlefield 3.
