Highest Win Rate Tanks from July – Tier 8

Reaching the big boy tiers at Tier 8, we can definitely notice more of a Heavy Tank focus where armor is king.

VK 100.01 (P)

The VK 100.01 (P) is nicknamed the mini Maus for a reason. Its hull armor would be impressive at Tier 9, and when angled optimally your side and upper plate armor will exceed the penetration values of even Tier 10 tank destroyers, and even the lower plate weak spot can challenge equal tier Mediums at the higher end of the penetration spectrum with 210mm effective armor. It's no wonder this is one of the many tanks players hate to fight.

The turret is also comparable to the Maus, with the weakest part being the centre of the curved cheeks at 230mm or the cupola at 220mm when hit directly on. Though, unlike the Maus, it can barely angle the turret due to the shape of the turret sides and cupola.

Its firepower is brutal at 440 alpha damage with 220 penetration and over 1800 base DPM when utilising its 128mm main armament. Alternatively, you can choose to run a 105mm gun with lower alpha damage and penetration at 320 and 200mm respectively, while gaining over 200 DPM and superior accuracy statistics as a trade-off.

This is, of course, providing you’re careful enough not to position your VK between a tank and a harder tank because the mobility is traditionally dreadful with a 20 km/h top speed and a sub 10 power to weight ratio. The VK 100.01 (P) currently holds a 53.26% win rate.

WZ-111

Now we’re getting to my personal favorites. The WZ-111 was somewhat recently buffed to compete with its ‘tankier’ counterpart, the 112, giving it excellent mobility and improved frontal hull armor to compliment the DPM advantage it holds over the 112, though still lacking behind the IS-6.

In my personal opinion the WZ-111 is now the best of the Premium matchmaking 122mm trio, consisting of itself, the 112, and IS-6, which the statistics back up given that the WZ-111 has a 54.09% win rate.

As previously mentioned, its firepower is superior to that of the 112’s and, while the DPM is lower than the IS-6’s, its gun handling is significantly better than both its counterparts. It also shares the 112’s 250 penetration HEAT round as opposed to the IS-6’s 217 penetration APCR round, allowing it to pack more of a punch against more heavily armored opposition. Not only this, but the mobility is absolutely fantastic and more comparable to a Medium Tank, despite getting an excellent turret as is common place for higher tier Chinese Heavy Tanks.

Object 252U

Statistically identical to its clone the Defender, the Object 252U keeps a firm grasp of its first place position from last month with an astounding 56.95% win rate. Extremely potent frontal armor with a highly punishing 122mm 440 alpha damage main armament allows the 252U to brawl like no other in its tier… except for the Defender, I guess. For those unfamiliar with it, ensure you know how to destroy Object 252U before you face it in battle.

Considering the awesome firepower and frontal protection this tank gets on both the hull and turret one might expect it to have lack lustre mobility, but this isn’t particularly the case. While certainly not a Light Tank, the 252U typically doesn’t struggle to position itself or push tempo with a respectable 35 km/h and 13.59 power to weight ratio.
