Destiny 2: Countdown PvP Game Mode Tips

Learn how to get better at Countdown in the Destiny 2 Crucible with these tips.

Countdown is a new mode in Destiny 2 that is similar to Search and Destroy from Call of Duty or CSGO. Teams will take turns attacking and defending two bomb sites on a map. Because of this objective, Countdown in Destiny 2 plays out very different than a normal Control or Clash match. Use our guide to learn the best way to play Countdown in Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 Countdown Tips: Stick Together

Bungie has tuned Destiny 2 to be more about teamwork, so running off like a lone wolf is a great way to get yourself killed. Stick together and team fire your opponents. Although there are two bomb sites, resist the urge to send two players each way. If your opponent sends all four players to one site, your two teammates might be gone by the time you can get over there.

The bomb does not go off the second it is planted, so if your team guessed wrong it can always work its way over to the other bomb site. Learn to move around the map as a unit, then you can work on flanking from there.

Destiny 2 Countdown Tips: Don't Defuse Alone

This is an extension of our first tip, but make sure someone is looking out for you as you defuse. Once the bomb is planted, the enemy knows where you must go, so even if the coast looks clear around the bomb site, it probably is not. Once again, teamwork is the key to Countdown in Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 Countdown Tips: Know your Weapon Loadout

Every weapon in Destiny 2 has an ideal range, and a slower mode like Countdown allows you to stay in it as much as possible. If you are using a submachine gun with the new CQC weapon class in Destiny 2, make sure you stay in tight spaces and hallways.

If you are using a Scout Rifle, you will want to hang back closer to the actual bomb sites where there are clean sight lines. You know where the opponent has to go (the bomb site), so plan accordingly and stay in your ideal range.
