Microsoft Announces Gamescom Show Set for August 20

Expect to see a lot of Xbox One X announcements.

Microsoft have just announced that they'll be hosting a live show at Gamescom in August, which will contain some Xbox One X announcements.

The Xbox One X will be playable to fans in Europe for the first time, on August 20, with playable games likely including Microsoft exclusives such as Forza 7 and Sea of Thieves. As of yet, Microsoft have not announced any specific details on what will be announced at the event, but big things should be expected. Gamescom is the second largest gaming conference in the world and it's going to be one of Microsoft's key events to market and announce some big news.

Video game wise, it's not entirely clear on what we could expect, but of course, games including Sea of Thieves, Crackdown 3 and Forza 7 will make an appearance in some form or fashion. Perhaps we'll be getting a bigger glimpse at State of Decay 2, which is rumored to release in the first half of 2018. Games including Assassin's Creed Origins, Shadow of War and Minecraft could also make a brief appearance, depending on what their individual publishers have planned for the event.

Gamescom is generally focused on multiplayer announcements and gameplay, so we're looking forward to seeing some multiplayer games run on the Xbox One X. We're also hoping to see arguably one of the hottest games of the year at the event, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, running on the Xbox One X. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is considered a graphically demanding game for PC, so it's going to be interesting to see how the game runs on the world's most powerful console.

Microsoft's Gamescom show will take place on August 20 at 3PM EDT.
