The T26E5 Patriot is On Sale - Should You Buy It?

The T26E5 and T26E5 Patriot is on sale, but is it worth the cash, or is it just a fancy paint job?

With July 4th just around the corner, it comes as a shock to absolutely nobody that the T26E5 Patriot is on sale in the Premium Shop. After all, what better time to sell an American Tier 8 Heavy tank with a patriotic paint job than around the July 4th holiday?

T26E5 vs T26E5 Patriot

While most veteran tankers already know this, it’s important to state the obvious for those that might not be aware; the T26E5 and the T26E5 Patriot are statistically the same tank, minus the Patriot version having the custom American skin. Both are available in the Premium Shop right now, and will stay there for the next 10 days. However, there is one T26E5 Patriot bundle that’s missing from the shop, and that could change how you view the sale.

In the table above, you can see that there are five bundles offered, not six. Missing is the T26E5 Patriot - Basic which, if included in the sale, would arguably cost about $45 USD. Unfortunately, if you want to pick up the T26E5 Patriot during this sale, you’re going to have to choose either the Loaded or Ultimate bundle, which means the minimum amount of money this tank will cost you is $55.99 USD. That, in my opinion, is the dark cloud of this offer. Where is the T26E5 Patriot - Basic option?

The good news is, if you’re not American or don’t care for the patriotic skin of the T26E5 Patriot, you can just buy the T26E5 - Basic at $43.99 and get to work, but the question remains: is the T26E5 (Patriot) Tier 8 Heavy tank a good Premium vehicle that you should buy?

Should You Buy the T26E5 Patriot?

While discussing if you should or should not buy the T26E5 or T26E5 Patriot, both versions will be treated as if they are the same tank. The skin changes nothing in performance, so that shouldn’t factor into a statistical assessment.

However, like the M4A3E8 Fury, there are some tankers who are going to pick up the T26E5 Patriot just for the patriotic skin, and that’s perfectly fine. Wargaming was counting on that being a selling point at least in part. If you fall into that category, buy the T26E5 Patriot and enjoy the hell out of it. That’s what World of Tanks is all about.

Of course, if your decision is based on the statistical merits of the tank, the one and only QuickyBaby is far better at breaking down all the ins and outs of vehicles. Rather than just regurgitate what he says, I’m going to direct you to watch his video (embedded above) on the T26E5 (Patriot) and decide for yourself.

Are you planning to snag the T26E5 or T26E5 Patriot from the Premium Shop this time around?
