Is the Xbox One X a PS4 Killer?

The Xbox One X is a more powerful console, but what does that mean?

Xbox One X Exclusive Games

It's not all about specs, though. The most technically powerful console isn’t necessarily the best. You must factor in other things, such as games. This is where I believe Microsoft fell short. They may have a great piece of hardware on their hands with the Xbox One X, but what are gamers supposed to play on it?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited for Forza Motorsport 7, Sea of Thieves and The Darwin Project, but none of them rival titles like The Last of Us II, Days Gone, Horizon: Zero Dawn, God of War, Death Stranding, Detroit: Become Human, etc. In fact, the two titles Microsoft mentioned that I was most excited for, Anthem and Metro Exodus, are going to be on the PS4 Pro as well. None of the exclusive games shown by Microsoft made me think, “I have to buy an Xbox One X to play that.”

And although I appreciate being able to play Microsoft exclusives on PC, I have to think they sort of shot themselves in a foot with this move. With the PS4 exclusives I mentioned before, I’m required to have a PS4 to play them. They aren’t on PC. If I want to play The Last of Us II, the PS4 or PS4 Pro is the only place I’ll be able to do that. With Xbox One X exclusives also being compatible with Windows 10, I can play Forza Motorsport 7 on my PC. Having a decent gaming PC means that there is even less reason for me specifically to buy an Xbox One X, although I realize the majority of gamers are not PC gamers.
