Space Combat From The Start
While the first DICE-developed Star Wars Battlefront technically had vehicle-focused combat from the start thanks to its Fighter Squadron mode, it didn’t have the iconic space battles that fans craved until its third major expansion. Thankfully, it looks like DICE is once again showing they’ve learned from past mistakes by emphasizing the fact that space combat will be in Star Wars Battlefront 2 from the beginning.
Judging from some of the marketing materials and screenshots we’ve seen, it looks like players will get to play through the iconic assault on the second death star both in multiplayer and possibly in the game’s story campaign (perhaps as a prologue to the story of Inferno Squad). Fighter Squadron will likely return as well, though hopefully the Battlefront 2 iteration will be a little more dynamic than simply blasting other players and AI enemies in prolonged mass dogfights.
