Enter Inferno Squad
Not only will Star Wars Battlefront 2 have a story campaign, but said campaign will also tell a brand new story that focuses on Inferno Squad, an elite group of Imperial agents led by the intrepid Iden Versio (played by True Blood actress Janina Gavankar). In Battlefront 2, Inferno Squad will quickly find itself in quite a bind as the story campaign kicks off with the destruction of the second death star in Return of the Jedi.
The story campaign will also reportedly span all three major eras of Star Wars’ cinematic history, allowing players to control iconic characters such as Kylo Ren and Luke Skywalker, in addition to members of Inferno Squad. How Inferno Squad and its exploits will fit into the greater Star Wars fiction remains to be seen, though Disney has already confirmed that the events in Star Wars Battlefront 2’s story campaign will be considered canon, which is reason enough for fans to be very excited.
