This tip to help you survive The Long Dark is as straightforward and sensible as it gets. When meat is kept in a warm place, it tends to spoil. When meat is kept in the cold, it lasts much longer. This is also true in The Long Dark, where we keep our raw and cooked meat sitting in the snow outside of our home base. It will last much, much longer. Despite theories to the contrary, we’ve never had animals smell it and show up on our doorstep. However, there's currently a debate about whether keeping raw meat in your character inventory can result in predators sensing you from farther away. Seems pretty certain that it does.
