World of Tanks: Community Tips for New Players

Advice for new World of Tanks players from community members that know best.

Tip #2: Hold Off on Buying Premium Tanks

One of the top rated comments regarding new player tips came from Charles P., who mentioned that new players should avoid buying Premium tanks until they’ve earned a tank from the same tier on their own. This coincides with the previous tip about being patient and not rushing to a higher tier too quickly.

Premium tanks come with the added benefit of increased credit earning potential to allow for faster progression. However, if a new player decides to purchase a higher tier Premium tank, they’ll be put into a match with players who are likely beyond their skill level. This can be a bit overwhelming for a new player, depending on how far they jumped up in tiers.

New players should stick to Premium tanks in tiers they are comfortable playing.

The benefits of a Premium tank are negated when the player’s skill level doesn’t match the tank tier they're playing.  Some of the better Premium tanks are available at the higher tiers (usually above Tier 5), but they arguably won't be worth the investment until the player has the competitive skills to earn a decent amount of credits in upper tier battles. A novice World of Tanks player who wants a Premium tank should opt for a tank in a tier they are comfortable in to get the most out of their purchase.
