Tanks are sturdy machines made to deliver destruction from 1,000 meters away. However, even the most vicious machine can find itself vulnerable at times. When moving around a battlefield, it's incredibly important to watch where you’re driving, because sometimes hills or pieces of debris can spell disaster.

Going too fast over a rise, lifting one track higher than the other, or even driving down a steep cliff can result in a tank flipping onto its side or even completely upside-down. There are also rare occasions where an enemy tank can flip an opponent over. This usually happens when the two tanks are close together, sometimes even face-hugging.

One tank gets a little too much traction on the right angle and the other tank will be pushed into a compromising position. A tank won’t die immediately when flipped. Instead, it will be rendered immobile and slowly lose health for the remainder of the match, or until it’s eventually destroyed. Thankfully, there is a way you can flip an upside-down tank in World of Tanks.

In order to flip an upside-down tank in World of Tanks, you will need to use your own tank as an instrument. If you are using a light tank in an attempt to flip a heavy tank, you're going to need to use the environment around you to your advantage.

Ascertain whether or not you're safe, and once safety is confirmed, drive your tank into the side of your ally’s vehicle. As mentioned above, light tanks will need to get some extra speed by zooming down a hill in order to shift a heavier tank.

With enough force and persistence, you will eventually manage to flip your ally back into position. Once they're no longer upside-down, they will be able to re-engage in battle.

Why You Should Help an Upside Down Tank

As you can see in the image above, when you help your teammate who has flipped their tank upside down, you'll be sure to receive a pleasant thank you, plus you'll ensure you have more tanks fighting toward victory!
When you help a teammate who's flipped their tank upside down, you ensure your team has more tanks on the battlefield fighting toward victory.

Understanding how to flip an upside-down tank is half the battle, the other half is knowing why you ought to do it in the first place.

In a match of World of Tanks, two teams battle one another for victory, glory, and lots of silver. When one tank is lost to the enemy, there is an immediate loss of damage and pressure. The same applies when a tank is flipped upside-down, it can no longer move and it simply becomes a sitting duck.

Even worse is when it flips in such a way that it cannot adequately use its turret. This reduction in damage output significantly disadvantages your team. Thus, if your goal is to win the match, it's in your best interest for your entire team to be in good fighting order.

It’s not extremely common to come across an upside-down tank, but when you do—and when it’s your own teammate—you should take the time to help them. Not only will they be thankful, you will be helping your team by ensuring you have as many tanks in the battle as possible. If you read this guide, you should now know how to flip an upside-down tank in World of Tanks.
