7 Video Game Soundtracks Worth Buying

From the fields of Cyrodiil to the edges of the Milky Way, these soundtracks will scare your pants off, set your pulse racing, and even help you relax.

The Elder Scrolls

First, it's worth mentioning that all of the games in The Elder Scrolls franchise offer some of the best game soundtracks of all time. Whether you’re fighting across Morrowind, closing Oblivion gates, or battling dragons in Skyrim, the epic scores of The Elder Scrolls series do a magical job elevating each game's experience.

For Skyrim, the bellow and roar of the soldiers mixed in as the tune ramps up to a crescendo help set the tone for what's to come. Jeremy Soule, the composer for The Elder Scrolls series, continues to amaze gamers as they explore each title's rich landscape.

The simple act of walking through town and purchasing items from stores is accompanied by a melody that begets a sense of homeliness. However, this can be quickly cut away whenever a dragon is spotted and the music shifts. The pacing achieved by the music in The Elder Scrolls is like no other.

For me, the highlight of The Elder Scrolls series—in terms of music—would have to be Oblivion as there was something completely unknown and awe-inspiring about the game's soundtrack. No matter which game in the series you love most, we can all agree that The Elder Scrolls boasts some of the best game soundtracks of all time.
