Figuring out which Faction in For Honor is the best can be quite tricky. At the beginning of For Honor, you will be asked to select between one of three different Factions. Keep in mind that this process has no bearing on what character you'll play later on.
It can be difficult to pin down whether something is “the best” as it requires a degree of subjectivity. However, let’s take a closer look at what’s on offer among the Factions in For Honor to see if we can pinpoint which Faction is the best.
The Knights
Part of the Crusaders of old, the Knights are comprised of four different characters, one from each class type. These include the Warden, Conqueror, Peacekeeper, and Lawbringer.
The Knights, though they have the Warden which is one of the best characters in For Honor, struggle to match the versatility of the Samurai Faction. However, the breadth of characters available to the Knights is still decent.
The Conqueror, for example, is able to deal a substantial amount of damage, and thanks to his shield, can survive longer than the likes of the Viking’s Berserker. Even the Lawbringer, with his sturdy armor and long-range pike, can keep some of the toughest characters at bay.
The Vikings
The Vikings are a powerful group of characters, with the Valkyrie vying for a spot as one of the best characters in For Honor. The Raider proved itself a worthy adversary and character in the beta, though it doesn't quite stack up to what is on offer in the main game.
Fans of the classic “sword and board” style of play will likely enjoy what the Warlord has to offer. Unfortunately, this class lacks power and speed. Even the Berserker, with her quick attacks, pales in comparison to the likes of the Knight’s Peacekeeper who offers bleed effects on top of speed.
No matter what Faction you choose—despite the fact one is often better than the others—the only thing that really matters at the end of the day is whether you're able to fight well in combat. Furthermore, when you apply some of our For Honor combat tips to the Vikings, the likes of the Raider can become a menace, even against a noble Knight.
The Samurai
Out of all three Factions, the Samurai are the best Faction in For Honor. This is due to three of the four available Samurai characters being some of the best characters in For Honor.
The Kensi, Orochi, and Nobushi are exceptional, and if you’re playing with two other friends, these characters create the ideal team composition. The weakest character in the Samurai Faction is arguably the Shugoki. Although they were a force to be reckoned with during the beta, the Shugoki currently pale in comparison to the rest of their Samurai brethren.
Of the three aforementioned characters, we feel the Nobushi is the best option as they boast the range of the Lawkeeper with the bleed effect of the Peacekeeper. Although all three Factions are fairly even when it comes to the characters on offer, the Samurai stand out as the best Faction in For Honor.
As For Honor grows and changes, this decision is likely to change as well, so continue to check back with us to keep up-to-date on the best Faction in For Honor.
