Evony: The King’s Return - “The Battle of Evony” (2017)
The last commercial on this list of best video game Super Bowl ads is for yet another mobile title called Evony: The King’s Return. You’ll probably recognize the faces of Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Aaron Eckhart as they charge into battle as warriors from different eras. The ad seems more fitting for a stylized television series than for a game, given the decent quality costumes and effects. Keep an eye out for this one during Super Bowl 51 this Sunday.
Though not about a single Pokémon game, we felt we should give an honorable mention to this Pokémon commercial from Super Bowl 2016 as well.
Okay, so it turns out that most of the best video game Super Bowl ads come from mobile games, and in general video game ads could be a lot better. This is likely because there just aren’t a whole lot of video game commercials during the Super Bowl. Part of that may have to do with the timing of the big event, as most games come out later in the year and aren’t looking to push their ad campaigns until after summertime.
Regardless, the video game Super Bowl ads on this list are decent quality in and of themselves, which deserves some recognition.
