Spring Cleaning for Your PC and Gaming Area

Tips for physically cleaning your PC and gaming equipment.

Desktop and Cord Cleanup

With your PC equipment nice and tidy, it’s time to clean the surface of your desk. Clear off any clutter or debris, then take a Lysol wipe or a cloth with some alcohol and wipe the surface clean. Do the same with your chair as well, especially on the arm rests.

Next, take a small vacuum and suck up any dust or debris on the floor around your desk area. A Swiffer duster will do the trick for non-carpeted floors.

Tie-up Cables

Now that your PC gaming area is all cleaned up, you can put your PC back together and plug everything back in. Carefully coil up your cables and secure them with a cable tie or some tape to keep your PC cords organized and free of tangles.

If you’re going for the tape method, wrap the tape around the cable sticky-side-up, with the non-sticky side toward the cables. Then, take another strip of tape and wrap it around the sticky part of the tape you just use to tie your cables. This will prevent the tape from leaving sticky residue on your cords later on.

Your PC should be kept clean all year round, not just during spring cleaning. Hopefully these tips will help you care for your PC rig so you can enjoy long PC gaming sessions well into the future. Let us know if you have any additional tips for externally cleaning your PC and gaming areas.
