Best War Movies of All Time

Here's our picks for the best war movies, ever.

Fury

Fury (2014)

Given our love for World of Tanks, seeing Fury on this list should come as no surprise. Fury depicts the struggles of US tank crews as they push further into Nazi Germany near the end of World War II.

The film specifically follows the tank platoon of an M4 Sherman tank named Fury, led by Brad Pitt as Don “Wardaddy” Collier.  Fury gives many of us a deeper appreciation for what tankers must endure on the battlefield. There’s tanks, action, and Brad Pitt. What more could you ask for?

Letters from Iwo Jima & Flags of Our Fathers

Letters from Iwo Jima (2006)

Letters from Iwo Jima takes a different approach to World War II by presenting the perspective of Japanese soldiers during the Battle of Iwo Jima. Directed by Clint Eastwood, Letters from Iwo Jima was created in conjunction with Eastwood’s other film, Flags of Our Fathers, which conversely portrays the Battle of Iwo Jima from the American soldiers’ perspective.

If you watch one, you should watch the other, to see just how different two opposing sides can experience the same battle. We decided to put both these films into one entry on this list, as they are basically two sides of the same war coin. Both Letters from Iwo Jima and Flags of Our Fathers are some of Eastwood’s greatest directorial works and deserve a spot on our list of best war movies.
