World of Tanks' Second Series of Sandbox Tests Are Now Live

Help test upcoming tweaks and features.

Wargaming is kicking off a new series of tests for the World of Tanks sandbox server and you can join in on the action by registering right now.

According to this new post on the World of Tanks website, the second round of sandbox tests will be split into two phases. The first, which is live as of this writing, is meant to test armor penetration and accuracy mechanics in order to normalize damage values of guns currently considered to be over or underpowered. The second phase, which has yet to receive a set start date, will focus on tweaking the game’s artillery mechanics.

Another tweak that’s being made during the first testing phase is a revision of alpha damage values for both heavy tanks and tank destroyers. From Wargaming:

“Currently, vehicles with very high alpha damage (the JagdPz. E 100, FV 4005, or FV 215b (183)) foster artillery-like gameplay. We’ll try to fix it by reducing excessively high alpha damage of very high-caliber (170+mm) guns, while also improving their reloading time to keep the DPM unchanged.

At the same time, we’re increasing the damage of 120mm guns to the damage rating of the 122mm guns (at the moment, this minuscule difference in caliber results in a 10% reduction of damage: 400 vs. 440). Their reload time gets increased as well, to keep the DPM intact.”

If you want to apply to be part of the World of Tanks sandbox server, you can do so here.
