Tip of the Week - Watch Where You Drive

This week’s tip pertains to awareness more than anything else.

Spatial awareness can go a long way in World of Tanks. Our advice this week is to simply watch where you drive your tank. We’ll explain why it’s important to stay vigilant and be aware of your surroundings, which includes the movements of your allies as well.

Getting rammed by one of your teammates at the start of a match can certainly be frustrating, especially since these accidental collisions can easily be avoided. We all understand the importance of getting into position quickly at the start, but that doesn't mean it's necessary to cut off your teammates in the process. Running into allied tanks, even on accident, can cause discord between you and your teammate and even runs the risk of one of you incurring a minor team damage penalty. Be patient, and wait a few moments to see where your teammates move before rolling into battle to avoid hitting teammates.

You should always be aware of the terrain you’re driving on, and whether or not there are cliffs or steep drop-offs nearby. One false move off of an unexpected ledge can result in you rolling or destroying your tank, leaving you out of commission for the rest of the match. While you may get lucky enough to have an ally help correct your tank and roll you back over, don’t count on it.

Your best bet is to simply pay attention to your surroundings to avoid mishaps altogether.  Learn how to use the terrain to your advantage by knowing how different terrain types can affect your tank. Hills and steep ledges can be beneficial depending on your tank’s gun depression and positioning.

Cautious and vigilant drivers in World of Tanks will also know how to avoid knocking over trees and buildings while rolling across the map. Felling a tree is an easy way to attract unwanted attention from opponents.

When a tree or post falls in the distance, a player knows there’s an enemy tank somewhere nearby without needing to spot them. If you are knocking over a tree intentionally to create cover to hide in, just keep in mind that you may give away your position upon doing so, causing enemies to converge on your location.
