Is Captain Spirit a Life is Strange 2 prequel?

Your saved data from The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit will transfer over to Life is Strange 2.

During Microsoft’s E3 2018 press conference yesterday, a new Dontnod game called The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit was revealed. Then, during Square Enix’s live stream, Dontnod confirmed that The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit will be “your first steps into the world of Life is Strange 2.”

This raises the question of whether or not The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is a Life is Strange 2 prequel in disguise.

Is Captain Spirit a Life is Strange 2 Prequel?

Is Captain Spirit a Life is Strange 2 prequel? The answer is both yes… and no. Right now, we know that Captain Spirit is set in the same universe as Life is Strange 2. The games are indeed connected, though the extent of their connection remains a mystery.

“It’s [The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit] hiding many secrets and even some links to the brand new story and characters of Life is Strange 2,” confirmed Raoul Barbet, one of the directors working on Captain Spirit and Life is Strange 2. Not only will you find secrets tied to Life is Strange 2 in The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, all of your saved game data will carry over to Life is Strange 2 once it’s released.

This means your actions and choices will not only play into the story of Captain Spirit, it will also impact your Life is Strange 2 experience. In some ways, you could consider Captain Spirit a prequel thanks to its setting and shared save data. However, it’s being marketed as a standalone experience so you likely won’t be able to uncover to much information about Life is Strange 2 in Captain Spirit.

Stay tuned, as we’ll be updating this article with all of the Life is Strange 2 connections found in The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit once the game is released.
