The runaway success of Crash Bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy has turned Spyro's similar current gen remake from retro curiosity to potential blockbuster, so you'd best believe we're eager for any chance to see how the plucky purple dragon looks in his new remastered form.
Thankfully, the official Spyro Twitter account has our back, and has shared 15 precious seconds of gameplay footage from the spruced-up version of the very first game.
Those sheep are looking pretty baaaashful. pic.twitter.com/W4XlKXV4uc— Spyro (@SpyroTheDragon) June 1, 2018
Yep, that looks a lot like Spyro. Lovely bright colors, that modern chase-cam viewpoint looks buttery smooth and the gem-collecting gameplay seems to be present and correct. Also still happening: excessive and ruthless blazing sheep murder. Oh Spyro, you agricultural arsonist.
Spyro Reignited Trilogy launches on September 21 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Development duties are being handled by Toys for Bob, the studio which kept Spyro's flame alive by making him the centerpiece of the first Skylanders game.
