Rare releases new Sea of Thieves development update

New info dropped for the first Sea of Thieves DLC release, The Hungering Deep.

Rare recently released a new developer update which talks about the upcoming DLC expansion for Sea of Thieves, The Hungering Deep, in more depth. According to reports, The Hungering Deep will be the first of three DLC releases for Sea of Thieves. As promised, all three DLC releases for Sea of Thieves will be available for free.

The Hungering Deep, set to launch on May 29, will be followed by Cursed Sails and Forsaken Shores, among other weekly events. With less than a week until the release of The Hungering Deep, a new developer update was released which provides new details as to what fans can expect from the DLC.

First and foremost, The Hungering Deep will feature a brand new story campaign centered around the first real “character” of the game, “Merry” Merrick. Along with a new story, new items and cosmetics will be released in The Hungering Deep including special tattoos and scars, with the vanity chest expanding to enable players the option to customize both of these features.

Other items include new display flags, as well as instruments like a drum and speaking trumpet. Weekly events are still in the works, though the developers have yet to provide info on these events.
