Metal Gear Survive needs the internet to stay alive

MGSV spin-off requires constant connection.

Konami’s first post-Kojima project Metal Gear Survive will require a constant internet connection, according to its website.

The PS4, Xbox One and PC versions of the game all have listings on the site that “An internet connection is required to play the game.”

It also states that “online-multiplay” requires various subscriptions (PS Plus/Xbox Live) so this isn’t just about the multiplayer aspect. It seems the entire game is online.

Konami delayed the MGSV survival action zombie horde spin-off at E3 this year to sometime in early 2018. Seems bizarre that the whole game has no singleplayer functionality whatsover, but from gameplay videos the focus is very much on a Left4Dead style co-operative experience. Maybe it’s just no fun on your own.
