Pokémon GO Adds Third Gen for Halloween Event

Capture new third generation Pokémon in the upcoming Pokémon GO Halloween Event.

To kick off this year’s Pokémon GO Halloween Event, Niantic has added five new third generation Pokémon for players to catch. The Pokémon GO Halloween Event is set to begin at 12 p.m. (PST) on October 20th and will end on November 2nd at 1 p.m. (PST). Within this timeframe, Pokémon GO players will encounter an increased number of Halloween-themed Pokemon such as Misdreavus, Gengar, and Cubone.

Additionally, the Halloween Event marks the first time in Pokémon GO history that players will be able to capture third gen Pokémon from the Hoenn region (appearing in Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire). These Pokémon will all be Ghost type and include Shuppet, Sableye, and Dusclops.

According to Niantic, third generation Pokémon will continue to be introduced into the game, “starting gradually as early as this December.”

New Pokémon aside, the Halloween Event includes a hat for player avatars that looks like Mimikyu, double Candy collection for Buddy Pokémon, and a special witch hat Pikachu available for capture. There will also be sales on special item boxes that include Super Incubators, double Candy rewards, and Raid Passes.
