Destiny 2 – How To Earn Bright Engrams

You don’t have to spend real money to get Bright Engrams in Destiny 2.

In addition to the standard Rare, Legendary, and Exotic Engrams you can find during your Destiny 2 adventures, you’ll also eventually start finding a fourth Engram type: Bright Engrams. If you’re not sure exactly how to get Bright Engrams or what to do once you have one, we’ve got you covered with the below guide.

How To Get Bright Engrams

There are two methods through which you can get Bright Engrams, though only one will be available to you until you reach Destiny 2’s endgame content. The most straightforward way to get Bright Engrams is by purchasing them from Tess Everis at the Eververse trading booth which is located at The Farm social space. Yes, that’s right, Bright Engrams are Destiny 2’s version of microtransactions.

You can buy them with Silver, a special form of premium currency that can be purchased with real-world money in a variety of differently-priced packs:

  • 500 Silver for $5
  • 1,100 Silver for $10
  • 2,300 Silver for $20
  • 5,800 Silver for $50

Once you have some Silver, you can then purchase Bright Engrams using the following three bundle options:

  • One Bright Engram for 200 Silver
  • Three Bright Engrams for 500 Silver
  • Five Bright Engrams for 800 Silver

If you’d rather not spend real money on Silver, don’t fret since there’s a second method for obtaining Bright Engrams. Once you reach the maximum character level of 20, you’ll continue gaining XP for killing enemies and completing quests, but now whenever you fully fill your character’s XP progress gauge, you’ll be given a free Bright Engram in place of a new character level.

What To Do With Bright Engrams

Once you have a Bright Engram in your inventory, you can take it to Tess Everis to have it decrypted (I guess Master Rahool only wants to deal with “normal” Engrams, go figure). Decrypted Bright Engrams can bestow a variety of randomized rewards, most of them cosmetic in nature.

The potential rewards can include new Sparrows, ships, emotes, cosmetic armor pieces (which can be infused if you like the way they look), shaders, and weapon/armor mods. The weapon/armor mods are technically not a purely cosmetic item, but you can easily earn them through standard play as well, so they’re certainly not “pay-2-win.”
