The Best Video Game Soundtracks of 2017 - Page 3

We’re taking a closer look at some of this year’s best video game soundtracks.

NieR: Automata

NieR: Automata is a powerful game backed by an equally powerful soundtrack. Composed by Keiichi Okabe alongside the band Monaca and new composers Kuniyuki Takahashi and Shotara Seo, NieR: Automa’s soundtrack booms with energy and soul.

Each track is designed in such a way to lift you up and make you feel like a true hero. The worst part of the soundtrack is trying to pick a favorite, as it’s almost impossible! We adore the soundtrack from start to finish, and highly recommend experiencing it for yourself by playing through NieR: Automata.

Night in the Woods

Another surprise indie hit of 2017 is Night in the Woods. Along with its colorful design aesthetic, Night in the Woods boasts an eclectic mix of music courtesy of Alec Holowka. There’s a unique edge to the music in Night in the Woods, and Alec cites the band DIIV as one of the soundtrack’s inspirations.

We can definitely see the connection to DIIV’s signature brand of rock music. However, Night in the Woods adds elements of mystery and reflection, helping it truly stand out above the crowd. If you get the chance, definitely give Night in the Woods a try and be sure to pay special attention to the music in the background!
