THQ Nordic Reveals Kung Fu Fable 'Biomutant'

A recent gameplay trailer from Gamescom 2017 shows Biomutant's furry fighter in action.

THQ Nordic has recently revealed a trailer for Biomutant, their upcoming open-world action RPG for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Biomutant is described as a “kung fu fable” that features a furry hero and a lush post-apocalyptic world full of dangerous threats and creative technology.

In Biomutant, players take control of a furry protagonist who sports an eyepatch and wields various mechanical weapons. Players can customize their character’s abilities with the use of unique mutations and bionic prosthetics. The reveal trailer for Biomutant gives viewers a taste of some of the powerful threats that lurk throughout the post-apocalyptic landscape.

Biomutant Cinematic Trailer

Biomutant aims to offer a new take on third-person combat. “The martial arts style combat system allows you maximum freedom of movement and agility while mixing shooting, melee and powers from your mutations,” says the Biomutant website. As you explore the world, you’ll meet martial arts masters along the way who teach your furry hero new Wushu combat styles to keep combat interesting.

Biomutant is being developed by Experiment 101, an independent game studio based in Stockholm, Sweden. The studio was co-founded by Stefan Ljungqvist, a former studio art director who worked on the Mad Max and Just Cause titles. Biomutant will allow players to utilize mechs, paragliders, mounts, and jet skis to explore the colorful world, which makes sense considering Ljungqvist’s history with the Just Cause series.
