Warframe Devs Reveal New Hero Shooter 'The Amazing Eternals'

A closed beta for The Amazing Eternals is happening later this month.

Digital Extremes, the makers of the free-to-play sci-fi shooter Warframe, have revealed their next major title: The Amazing Eternals. The developer is launching a closed beta for The Amazing Eternals at the end of the month on August 29th for those who wish to get their hands on the new F2P title.

Formerly codenamed “Keystone”, The Amazing Eternals is a free-to-play, pulp-fantasy hero shooter with a unique throwback aesthetic. Players delve into a virtual board game, where they embody various heroes known as Eternals who must fight to harvest resources from coveted Keystones.

The Amazing Eternals also features a complex deck-building component, which will likely be how the game will generate profit from players. Many free-to-play shooter games have opted to use card-based progression systems. Paragon, Paladins, and even Fortnite are all examples of recent F2P shooter games that involve some form of card-based strategy, so it's not too surprising that Digital Extremes would choose this route for The Amazing Eternals.

“The cards that you collect for your Eternal provide endless strategic options for how you play,” explains The Amazing Eternals lead designer, Allen Goode. “From weapons, to power-ups, to traps and turrets, the decks you build will influence and reflect your own gameplay style.”

You can take a look at some of the cards and heroes in Digital Extremes’ latest gameplay video for The Amazing Eternals below.
